Not to be one of those people who make their entire identity a short course abroad, but when I scroll through years of pictures on my phone, these images from a short stay in the city truly stand out in terms of composition and color. Being alone with music or a true crime podcast and walking around or riding a metro created moments of stillness and observation.

the lady in yellow
the old lady i lived with shared stories every night, over a glass (sometimes a bottle) of wine. stories of lost love, regrets and revelry. one of them was of the painting that lay in her living room. a portrait of her in her 20s. we decided to shoot a short film of the girl in the painting coming to life and having a conversation with the old lady, about her life and her choices. But that never happened.
